CAS Colours & Sketches ~ Double Header!

Good Morning All! I took a little break yesterday to take my daughter for some Back to School shopping and a little dinner but I'm back today with a new project!

Today's card was created for the CAS Colours & Sketches Challenge #135 The Double!

As it's a 5th Thursday in a month, there's colors and a sketch!

This week's colors are Night of Navy, Wild Wasabi and Daffodil Delight... the sketch is posted below.

I didn't know if I would like these colors together but it turns out that I really do... it's funny the things that you would never have thought of but love in the end!

Just A Note Hello

Good Sunday Morning Friends!

Today's Pretty in Pink card was created for the CAS(E) this Sketch Challenge #133.

This one was really quick and simple! I started with a base of Melon Mambo cardstock by SU and just added a white panel to the top.

The stamp set I used is called Modern Leaves by Avery Elle. I chose 3 images from the set and stamped them in SU inks in Melon Mambo, Blushing Bride and Strawberry Slush.

My sentiment is from a Think Big set by PTI and stamped in Versafine Onyx Black. I really like these sets... 2-3 nice. large sentiment stamps for $5.00!

Finally, I added a few enamel dots by The Paper Studio and Hobby Lobby in shades of pink just to balance out the design in general.

This would be a great design in just about any color combo... even one with different colors... that would be a cool look!

It's Your Day!

Good Morning from sunny Wyoming! Yes, it's sunny and warm today and I'm loving it!

Today's card was created for the Freshly Made Sketches Challenge #196.

I made this project using a card kit that I purchased on eBay from a seller named Old Paper Cat. She puts together these amazing, color coordinated packs of Stampin' Up cardstock and beautiful patterned pieces as well.

This set included the Crumb Cake and Pool Party cardstock I used as well as the striped paper, along with several other little goodies and it all went together perfectly!

The sentiment stamp I used is from a PTI Think Big set and it's stamped in Crumb Cake ink by SU. Lastly, I added 3 little enamel dots by My Mind's Eye. It's a subtle accent but a nice detail in the finished piece.

As you can see in the photo... the sun is shining so I'm on my way out to enjoy it! ~Take care!

Thank You for the Memories... CAS Colours & Sketches

Good Morning Everyone! Today is my last post as a Guest Designer with CAS Colours & Sketches... it's been lots of fun and while I'm sorry to see it come to an end, I'll be back next week, playing along and having fun again in the next challenge!

This week is Sketch Challenge #134. I've posted it below so you can see how I did!

I started with a white card base and stamped the box from the sketch using SU's Gorgeous Grunge in Pool Party.

The flowers were created with stamps and dies by Papertrey Ink called The Sweet Life. The blooms are created in 3 steps using So Saffron, Crushed Curry and Pumpkin Pie inks. The leaves are separate and require 2 steps which I completed in Wild Wasabi and Old Olive.

Finally, the little Thank You banner is from SU's Itty Bitty Banners set. I stamped it in Versafine Black Onyx and then just cut it out with scissors.

The part you can't see is the clear Wink of Stella that has been applied over the darker portions of the floral image... in real life it's very pretty!

A big thank you to everyone at CAS Colours & Sketches for allowing me to join their ranks this last month. It has been a wonderful experience!

Hello! I'm back again for my second card of the day!

This little beauty was created for the CAS(E) this Sketch Challenge #131!

I started with a card base made of Easter Grass cardstock by Bazzil and added panels of black and white.

The little bicycles are from The Stamps of Life set called Bicycle2Stamp and are stamped in VersaFine Black Onyx and Simon Says Apple Green.

To finish this one off I added 3 little enamel dots by The Paper Studio  and rounded 2 of the corners.

I really like how clean it came out and I was pretty successful at creating a random design this time around... something I usually have difficulty with :)

And with this card, I'll be done for the day but don't forget to check back tomorrow... there's some cool stuff on the way!

SWEET! & Yummy!

Good Morning All and welcome to the first of my card posts for today!

I made this card with my new The Stamps of Life Die-Hard Club set; Watermelon2Stamp! Aren't those little slices just the cutest?!

This wonderfully yummy project was created for Freshly Made Sketches #194 and I think it's a pretty good rendition of the sketch!

I started with a card base of Harvest Gold by PTI and then added some patterned paper that I've had in my stash for quite some time.

As I said above, the watermelon slices were made with a new Stamps of Life set along with the little sentiment.

I finished it off with some linen thread by SU, all tied up in a sweet little bow!

I'm off to garage sale with my mother-in-law but I'll see you again later today for another card!

Guest Design for CAS Colours & Sketches #132

Good Morning Everyone! I think that it's supposed to be a nice day here in Wyoming after 3 days of thunderstorms and rain... not common for us in July!

This morning I bring to you the card I've made as a Guest Designer for CAS Colours & Sketches Challenge #132   .

This week's sketch is a beauty and I know you'll all have just as much fun with it as I did!

I've once again broken out my Papertrey Ink Bitty Bouquet set and matching dies... I just love the images... use them alone or in a bunch... perfect for the warm and bright months of summer!

Another Thank You...

Good Morning Everyone! I hope you all had a wonderful 4th of July and are taking today to relax a bit before it's back to real life on Monday!

This morning's card I made for the CAS(E) this Sketch Challenge #130 and I really like the way it turned out!

I started out with a card base in navy blue and then cut the bottom of the front off with one side of a large Sizzix label die. This left me with a shaped bottom edge that I attached a piece of kraft cardstock to for a finished card front.

I cut the leaves with a die set from CC Designs that I think is now retired and then drew in some veining with a VersaMarker... love that thing!

The flower is by Stampin' Up and cut out with the matching punch... I added just a tiny bit of Fruit Punch Stickles to the center of this one too... I really like that color and I think it was either a limited edition or it's retired now too so I'm hoarding it :)

Finally, I used a small "thanks" die and cut it 3 times from the kraft cardstock. I layered all 3 on top of each other to create some dimension and then covered the whole lot in Wink of Stella and Glossy Accents to create my own embellishment piece... so fun!

It sounds like there's a lot of steps in this one but it's really pretty simple to make and could be done in all sorts of color combinations for just about any season and I'm really starting to like cards with just a bit of hand-drawing in them!

A Note of Thanks

Good Morning All & Happy 4th of July!

Before all of the Independence Day Celebrations begin, I'm here to share the card I made for this week's Freshly Made Sketches Challenge #193.

This little cutie was created using The Stamps of Life June Card Kit... mostly.

I started with a top folding base in white cardstock from the kit, all of the patterned paper and the cardstock used for the flowers are also from that same kit... along with the sentiment and the ribbon.

The flower and leaves dies are from another Sizzix set by Stephanie Barnard called Basic Step-Up Card.

The only other additions are the Wink of Stella glitter on the flower, the Glossy Accents over that and one tiny little enamel dot by The Paper Studio and Hobby Lobby.

My goal was to keep this one simple, light and summery... mission accomplished!

Today's card was made for the CAS Colours & Sketches Challenge #128 Sketch!

I created the card with some stamps that I recently purchased at the Mother of All Garage Sales... you can see my whole haul right HERE on YouTube!

I could write all about how I made this card and the pieces I used but... I made a video to show you instead!

The video is one of my regular Use Your Stamps Series videos for Wednesday but it was fitting this week as I've done lots more shopping than normal... than I probably should have... Oh well! ~ Enjoy the show!

An "Otterly" Great Birthday!

Good Morning All! It's been a bit chilly here in Wyoming for the past couple of days... here's hoping for sunshine today!

I'm just stopping in to introduce my card for the CAS(E) this Sketch Challenge #127!

I started with a card base in an "oceany" blue and then added a white layer on to which I stamped my sentiment from Lawn Fawn's Year 5 Birthday set.

I then took more of the blue cardstock, die cut some squares, rounded the edges and put them through a wave pattern embossing folder by Sizzix. You can't see it in the picture but the raised areas are covered in Wink of Stella and very sparkly... like waves on the ocean!

My little otter is colored with Copic markers and I'm so proud of how he turned out! He's got to be one of the cutest little critter stamps out there... all holding his little present and everything!

Thinking of You Always

Hello Everyone!

The last 8 days have been a blur... I'd say I want a do-over but there's no way I want to go through all of that again!

So, moving on! I'm back this morning with a card for CAS(E) this Sketch! #126.

I started with a base of Stamper's Select white cardstock by PTI and then cut another panel for the main design. I temporarily adhered it to the base and did my stamping with PTI's Brushed Blooms stamp set... one of my all time favorites!

Once the design and sentiment were completed, I took the smaller panel off and joined it up with some Harvest Gold to form a little bit of border. I then put some fun-foam on the back for a little dimension and set the whole deal back in place matching up the stamping.

I didn't add any embellishments to this one because I love it just the way it is!

Hello Again! I'm back with my second post of the day and yes, there's another to come!

This beautiful card was created for the Freshly Made Sketches Challenge #188.

I started with a base of Spring Rain cardstock by PTI and then added a panel of Soft Stone that I textured with the SU's Decorative Dots embossing folder.

The sentiment panel was cut with a Spellbinder's set that creates a pierced border around the whole piece... I love the way that looks!

The flowers were made with SU's Flower Patch stamps and Flower Flair framelit dies... I'm in love with that set... it's what started me buying Stampin' Up products and luckily it's still in the new catalog so if you don't have it, you should!

I think I did pretty well with the sketch and keeping things fairly CAS... I'm having some trouble with the whole "white space" concept these days but that may be because it's finally warmed up here in Wyoming and I want to fill every space with flowers and color and texture and all that :)

An Inky Hello

Hello, it's good to see everyone again this morning!

I'm here today to share the card I made for this week's CAS(E) this Sketch Challenge #124!

As you can see by looking at the sketch below... I took some liberties with this one!

At first I tried... and tried... and tried to construct a bug "HI" across the front of the card. I tried stamping, paper piecing, embossing... nothing worked for me and came out the way I was thinking it should.

So, I decided that I would interpret that big "HI" as a "large element on the front of the card" and broke out a stencil!

I sponged my stripe pattern in Scattered Straw Distress ink and then inked up another piece of white in Salty Ocean. From that piece I die cut my "hello" sentiment and punched some little stars. The die cut I covered in Wink of Stella and Glossy Accents. To the stars I added some Dazzling Diamonds glitter.

The die cut hello looked a bit stark so I textured some silver metallic vellum and used a coordinating die to cut a shadow for the word... and that finished the card.

Bloom & Grow Forever

Good Morning Everyone! It's Sunday and this is my first post since I thought I conquered the end of the week dry spell... apparently not... oh well.

This morning's card is my entry for this week's Freshly Made Sketches Challenge #187.

I went to Hobby Lobby yesterday and I found what I think is a new product by Sizzix and Stephanie Barnard but I can't seem to find much on them... 3-D Drop-Ins die sets. The one I purchased (with my 40% off coupon) has all sorts of cool flower dies in the set so I decided to use some of them for this card!

The back panel is done in Aqua Mist by PTI and then textured in a Swiss Dot pattern. I then wrapped it with some linen thread and added a tag I punched with an old Marvy tag punch I've had forever!

The sentiment comes from a PTI mini set called Signature Series: Butterfly.

I love the "Summery" feel of this card and how clean it is... it's been raining here in Wyoming since it stopped snowing on Mother's Day but today we have some sunshine and we're taking the opportunity to cut out now knee-high front lawn!

Hey There in Cotton Candy!

Good Morning Friends! It's Monday again and I'm here to share a card that I hope will brighten your day a bit!

This little shaker beauty has been created for the CAS Colours & Sketches  Challenge #124!

I adore shaker cards and make them all the time for every occasion! In this case though... being a CAS challenge, I needed to tone it down just a little so I went with vellum for the windows instead of acetate. This muted the colors and left the whole thing feeling more soft and clean.

My butterflies are both Stampin' Up punches, one in patterned paper and one in glitter paper... love those little guys!

The sentiment comes from one of the best sentiment sets out there (I think anyway), the Sentiment Sampler by Paper Smooches... it pretty much covers everything in a fun and playful font style.

I seem to be hooked on  pink these days... no idea why, it's just the color that appeals to me most when I'm looking at the paper bins in my craft room...

Thinking of You on A Windy Sunday Morning...

Good Morning Friends! It's Sunday and a little windy and cold here in Wyoming... Oh where is spring?!

Today's card was created with a couple if challenges in mind...

First, the lay-out for the card comes from this week's Freshly Made Sketches #186. I love the look of split front cards and they're not near as hard to make as I thought they might be.

Second, the color scheme comes from this week's challenge at Sunday Stamps #101 that included a Dark Grey, Medium Gray, Light Blue and Teal. I'm not sure I chose the lighter blue well but I think it works in any case.

My sentiment is from one of my favorites, PTI and their Keep It Simple sentiment mini sets.

A Friend Knows Your Song

I don't know what it is about the end of the work week but it always seems to get away from me these days!

With that and not having as much time as I would have liked to have, I've combined a couple of this week's challenges into one card which I would like to present to you today...

CASology's challenge for this week was a card with a music theme. That was proving to be a bit difficult for me as I had no "music" type stamps. So I decided to carve one myself.

I created the lines with Super Stripes by PTI and then carved the treble clef myself from some Speed Ball rubber material... I'm pretty happy with how it turned out and now I have some cool ideas to use it again!

The sentiment is from a stamp set that I bought quite a while back and no longer have the packaging for so I'm not sure where it came from...

The whole deal looked a little tonal and barren when all was in pace so I decided a little glitter heart covered in Glossy Accents was in order to finish it off!

So, I'm entering this beauty into CASology's Week 146: Music and into CAS(E) this Sketch #123 which is where my lay-out came from.

That's all for now... I may be back a little later but I'm not sure about that yet... depends upon how much peace and quiet I can eek out on a Saturday afternoon :)

A Bitty Bouquet Hello

Good Monday Morning to you! Yeah I know, too much... I'm trying to convince myself too :)

There is however nothing better than a new card on Monday morning and this is the one I've created for the CAS(E) this Sketch Challenge #122.

I used Neenah Solar White 80# paper to make the base and the textured panel with a Stampin' Up embossing folder.  The bouquet stamps and matching dies are by Papertrey Ink and if you're a floral junkie like me, they're really a must have set!

My banners were cut from PTI cardstock in Harvest Gold and Ocean Tides with the blue one again textured... I thought it just looked super boring flat.

The sentiment is also part of the Bitty Bouquet set... it just looks right for the flower designs doesn't it?

My whole color scheme is actually a color recipe by PTI... they put together some pretty cool ones... I just added a little Simply Chartreuse for the flower stems.

A Sea of Stars to Say Congrats!

There seems to be a lot of people around me these days doing some pretty amazing things so I've needed lots of Congratulations type cards!

I made this one for a friend but also for two different card challenges this week...

This card will be entered into the  Freshly Made Sketches Challenge #185 and also into the CASology Challenge #145: Shape.

I was looking at the FMS sketch, trying to figure out what to do with it when I decided that I wanted to texture the background. Once I brought out SU's Stars embossing folder, it all fell into place from there.
As this card is for a gentleman, I kept the colors to shades of blue... even the glitter paper doesn't look all that girly with the metallic vellum over top! I think he's going to like it!
